About the event

The 4th Annual Engaged Jain Studies Conference: “Engaged Anekāntavāda and Interreligious Dialogue” has two bold aims. First, to show how Jainism can serve to facilitate productive interreligious dialogue and comparative theological understanding in order to inspire our audience to peacefully coexist with their religious others. And second, to demonstrate how the Jain philosophical tool of anekāntavāda can be engaged with some of the most important social issues of our time.

Day 1 features scholars contributing to the groundbreaking volume, Jainism and Comparative Theology: A Multi-Religious Approach (Barbato, Brill, and Mehta, eds.; Forthcoming). Each talk will showcase the ways that the Jain tradition can be engaged in productive comparative theological study with Dharmic, Abrahamic, and Asian traditions.

On Day 2, we will hear from prominent leaders and voices from within the Jain community, as they share their perspectives on how anekāntavāda can be engaged in business ethics, political engagement, education, selfless service, and in the conduct of our everyday lives.

In the spirit of collaboration, we invite members of the global Jain community and beyond to engage with speakers throughout the event during scheduled Q&A and discussion sections.
